Enjoy Spring and Easter in London

With spring almost here, Easter round the corner and summer not too far away, many of us will soon begin to venture out into the (hopefully) warm sunshine to explore London's great outside spaces.  The month of May brings us the prestigious annual Chelsea Flower Show, along with numerous other outdoor events, all of which start around now and herald the onset of the better weather!

From 23-27th May, the fabulous spectacle of the Chelsea Flower Show, set within the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, finds a plethora of world famous plant specialists, garden experts, designers, nurseries and florists coming together to exhibit their inspired ideas.  You'll be able to see their innovative garden designs on show, along with stunning, vivid floral and horticultural displays, which will certainly inspire you to get out and get gardening! There will be an array of splendid award- winning gardens, rare plants and unusual flowers to peruse, as you stroll through this wonderland for garden lovers. Attracting more than 150,000 visitors annually, tickets need to be booked early, in advance, and range between £35.00 to £63.00 per person. Unmissable!

Reserve your serviced apartment for Londons Chelsea Flower Show.

You could combine your trip to the Chelsea Flower Show with any of a host of other floral-themed events on in the Chelsea area during May. For example, to celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show, many famous restaurants and hotels throughout the district offer special meals or afternoon teas.

With two bank holidays in the offing, May boasts a host of further activities including a range of festivals held in some of London's fabulous parks and museums. Brockwell Park's music festival, near Brixton, (Sun 28th May) for example, combines music and food, with chefs, restaurants, bars and breweries ready to serve up their delights. Including both live acts and DJs to dance off the calories, along with traditional fun and games, this event should not be missed.

Also in May, the stunning setting of Regent's Park outdoor amphitheatre forms the backdrop for its amazing Open Air Theatre, which begins it's season on the 19th May, with 'On The Town', which is set to dazzle audiences as it's the biggest dance musical ever staged at Regent's Park.  With famous, toe tapping hit tunes and superb choreography, you can follow the frolics of three sailors on leave in New York, a truly excellent show.  Entry to this spectacular theatre venue event, under (hopefully), blue skies, starts from £18 per person.

For culture lovers, why not become a 'Lates Lover' and join in the 'Festival of Lates Museums at Night'?

In many of London's museums and galleries this May you'll be able to experience some of the special museum events, held after dark, which explore art, history and our heritage.  This is a biennial festival, sometimes free (see individual museum websites for details), where you can see new exhibitions, talks and presentations, participate in torch lit tours and enjoy live performances in historic settings.  So, to do something different in a museum, gallery or heritage site this Spring, here are just two examples of the many superb events on offer around the London area.

  1. Museums at night - banknotes and bullion Bank of England Museum 19th May - 30th May 21:00

The staff will be revealing unseen objects from the bank's collection which visitors can handle. Explore the 'Banknote Gallery', to discover how banknotes have evolved from simple paper receipts into the sophisticated notes of today. Free admission

  1. Dickens after dark - Charles Dickens Museum 18th May 18:00 - 21:00

For just £15 this venue is well worth a visit.  The former home of the great author, Charles Dickens, is opening its doors for an evening of Dickensian revellery, enabling you to browse through the hidden, walled garden, Georgian interiors and be amazed by a variety of delights to entertain you. A candlelit bar adds to the atmosphere, with live music and a reasonably priced, delicious menu, at the Victorian watering hole, 'The Lady Ottoline' to add to your experience.

For more events like these see the website - https://museumsatnight.org.uk/events-page

For footie followers, the 27th May should be a date for the diary.  Whether you have tickets for the FA Cup Final, which takes place at Wembley Stadium on this day, or whether you wish to watch this league final in one of the many London pubs, where the atmosphere is often electric, there is a place for you to chill out and enjoy this annual event.

Living and studying in London as a student

As many people will tell you, ‘student days are the best days of your life’.  Add to that the vibrant atmosphere of the one of the world’s finest capital cities and you have all the ingredients to make your student life one to remember.

Choosing London as your base during your years of studying makes perfect sense. With many higher education institutions set in and around the city, London makes an attractive and convenient place to study and has so much to offer.  It is a place where you will be inundated with images, culture, atmosphere, people and history. You can pick and choose, combining being a student, spectator or tourist, as everything is so centrally located.  As a student, there are many opportunities to experience new culture, shops, events and people.  Add to that two other student priorities, nightlife and food, which London has in abundance, with its plethora of food markets, eateries and pubs located in the centre, and you then have all the major lifestyle benefits of living and studying in London.

Living and studying in London as a student. Student accommodation & student apartments in London.

Furthermore, with an excellent, affordable transport network to get around, along with a multitude of museums and art galleries, (many being free), boredom will never set in, even for those students who are on the tightest of budgets.

If you are seeking greater independence and looking to start your career, London is definitely the place for you.  London helps to connect people, with its proximity to the world stage.  Its status as a leading city results in well renowned companies, like banks, publishers and media companies choosing to make London their headquarters. As a student in London, you can take advantage of such employers providing opportunities like interview training, work experience and internships.  Graduate schemes are also available within the city, making your location and proximity to these ever more vital.

As an international student, initially student life in London can be daunting, although there are endless opportunities for not only boosting your education and career, but also for friendship and fun. This could be your ideal chance to combine furthering your education and living in one of the most influential and exciting cities in the world.  With its fusion of cultures and unique multicultural character, communities from every corner of the globe have settled in London, bringing new cuisine, customs and influence to the capital, giving it a diversity and richness unlike anywhere else, making you want to stay, sample and explore.

Although studying in London is undoubtedly a highly attractive idea for many, the main factor for students in deciding whether to live and study in London, is their idea of what it will cost to live in the capital. London is a great city, but it can be expensive and it does falter when it comes to affordability. Students can find it hard to make ends meet, even when they are frugal with their money. Yet having a base in London is a real advantage, as its close to some of the worlds leading universities & colleges and especially if you're applying for internships and want real opportunities for employment.

Euracom aims to make student life in London as hassle-free, simple and affordable as possible, allowing you to focus on your studies.
